This black tea bears the well-known name Orange Pekoe. This describes the leaf grading or sheet size and is an indication of the quality of the tea. However, the word orange does not describe the taste of orange flavor as suggested. Orange is derived from the Dutch royal family Oranje-Nassau, who was instrumental in importing tea to Europe. Orange should therefore stand for the high quality of the leaves, what the royal house stands for. There are also other explanations for the description orange, which can also stand for copper color of the infusion. Pekoe means whole leaf or hardly broken leaves. It is believed that Pekoe is derived from a Chinese word meaning "white fluff" in English, thus describing the small hairs on the young leaves. Die Blattgradierungen gibt es ausschließlich bei Schwarzem Tee.
